  • Well. Here we are. First post.

I’m Nicole — self-proclaimed nature enthusiast, unqualified animal paparazzi, and someone who has just a little (okay, a lot) of OCD. Though I prefer to call it obsessive chicken disorder.

This blog is part wildlife photo album, part personal chaos log, and part “look at this weird leaf I found.” I take casual photos, write stories that may or may not be factual, and tend to get emotionally attached to squirrels I’ve only met once.

    You’ve been warned.

So anyway! I was out for a walk near the river and saw this adorable little song sparrow! He graciously posed for one picture before diving head first into the bushes. Honestly? I feel like the diving picture has more personality anyway.

Random fact that may or may not actually be a fact- you decide:

Song sparrows are found in a bunch of places and are pretty common. However, their plumage can differ depending on the location. Melanin is a pigment that contributes to the darker colored feathers, and it is thought that the added amount of melanin helps harden their feathers and protect song sparrows from things like feather mites.
